Waste Management Alley Pick-up Notice
Waste Management will resume with garbage pickup in the alley starting today. Thank you for your patience and cooperation during the last couple weeks.
The recent rain has lead to increased growth of trees, shrubs and grass. If you have not checked on your alleyway, please make sure it is clear so that trucks can safely pass through.
Please keep the following in mind:
• Trees and Shrubs: Trees and shrubs over the street and alley must be trimmed to a height of 13.5 feet; trees and shrubs over a sidewalk must be trimmed to a height of 8 ft.
• Grass and weeds cannot exceed 12 inches in height.
• Alley way maintenance is also the responsibility of the homeowner or tenant and must be maintained so garbage trucks have unobstructed access.
City staff will begin contacting residents whose property does not meet the required tree, shrub, grass heights. Neighborhoods with alleys will be contacted first to ensure clear alley access for trash trucks and utility vehicles. If you are concerned with trimming trees near powerlines, please submit a CPS request form for assistance, https://www.cpsenergy.com/.../res-service-request-form.html
If you have any specific questions, please contact the Development Services Department at 210-659-0333 x 725.
Although most households in Universal City have waste collected from the front curb, some residents have their garbage collected from the alley behind their house. Alley maintenance (grading) is performed by Public Works, however mowing of grass and maintenance of tree height is the responsibility of the property owner. Over grown trees, grass, and shrubs in the alley could result in a fine and disrupt garbage collection.
Residents that have questions regarding trash collection and brush removal should contact Waste Management at (210) 368-5000. All Commercial Customers must contact Waste Management directly at (210) 368-5000.
